Bjork, kurwa, idz stad.
ReplyDelete5. Buddy Wakefield - My Town
ReplyDelete13. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Emit Remmus
20. System of a Down - Toxicity
and I'll have a go at number 2:
Bohdan Piasecki - My Secret (Being a lesbian is hard)
Chortle, chortle. Trust you to have 4 different languages in 25 songs. :-)
Ok, to make it a bit more official and less tantrum-y:
ReplyDelete3. Bjork - Joga
Paul - right on all counts. Well, number 2 is wrong. Or is it? Also, I thought you of all people would be all over number 17.
ReplyDeleteOh, and because I know you're a fan of Segways: I saw a couple of policemen patrolling on those the other day. Looked, well, interesting.
Wojtek - and what, may I ask you, is wrong with Bjork? Also, I'm sure you know a couple more.
I know, I promised not to come here before tomorrow, but I have to solve the magic 2 - Erykah Badu, Clever, or maybe I don't know my husband THAT well?
ReplyDeleteAnd since I'm here:
22. Tom Waits, A Little Rain
1. King Crimson, “Frame by Frame”
ReplyDelete8. The Decemberists, “Eli the Barrow Boy”
15. Sage Francis, “Crack Pipes”
16. Regina Spektor, “Consequence of Sounds”
But then again, I have home court advantage, kind of :-)
Karolina - technically, it's "Cleva", but I'll give you that.
ReplyDeleteArthur - number 14? No? Come on, you and Jan are my only chance on this one.
6: colossal insight / roots manuva
ReplyDelete25) Guns & Cigarettes, Atmosphere
ReplyDelete21) też Atmosphere, ale nie wiem co
Oh yeah!
ReplyDelete14. Iva Bittová - V černém
Took me a while to figure it out, becuase I have only 1 song in Slovakian, which is what I thought the language was, since you wrote “pred” instead of “před”...
how starnge - there seem to be two wojteks on this planet - kurwa (!)
ReplyDeleteDominika - spot on. Colossal, man!
ReplyDeleteMs.S - I'll wait a while with 21 to see if anyone (one of the Wojteks, perhaps) can figure out the title. I'm still very proud of you, my hip-hop sista!
Arthur - I didn't write anything, I just copied/pasted if from a slovakian website. I suppose that explains the mistake.
Wojtek - umm. Which is which?
I knew it was Cleva, just a spelling mistake ;) but I really appreciate the fact that you're so good to me :)
ReplyDeleteAnd following Art, I don't know where does the cheating begin i.e. I obviously knew the 10th and 11th, but for the titles I had to visit our 'bigger'. Same for the number 9 (although it took me a while to track this).
And probably the rest of them, but I don't have time for that now. BTW did I say something about NOT COMING here until tomorrow?!?
So there are FIVE different languages here?
ReplyDeleteHang on, I've just seen Japanese as well, is it? SIX?
Yeah, 17 was one that I thought I could get. I think it goes something like:
Bleeeeeeeeed, in your owwwn liight
Dreeeeeeeeam, of your owwwn liife
Slow and melancholic. Getting warmer? Maybe this could be a team effort. At the least, a fascinating study of cross-cultural onomatopoeic preferences.
Boomshakalaka.
Paul - I count five. Which one is the sixth?
ReplyDeleteAnd yeah, I think you rendered the delivery of 17 perfectly. Although it would be even better if you could start with tiny letters that got gradually bigger as the sentence progressed, to capture the trademark mosquito-buzz singing style.
Oh, Karolina - hrmpf. Checking our hard drive for song titles strikes me as borderline cheating, but I'll leave it to your conscience.
ReplyDeleteThat's why I didn't write them here, hrmpf, alboco :D
ReplyDeleteEnglish, Polish, Slovakian, French, Japanese, Portuguese.
ReplyDeleteAh wait, no. The Polish one became the Slovakian one. Yeah, "just" 5 then. You global citizen, you. Be sure to teach me a few words of Javan when you start translating their poetry :-p
ARG, that song 17 is annoying me, I can't get it...
No, Paul -- there is no Slovakian one, that's the point. The lyrics that B. pasted are misspelled, making them look Slovakian to my untrained eye, which was the source of the confusion. The song is actually in Czech.
ReplyDeleteDammit, I know the one about the boxer, but I can't write it cause I checked with google instead of my hard drive. Janek's going to know it, though.
ReplyDeletepozostaje mi powiedzieć joł joł joł.
ReplyDeletewłaśnie chyba zarobiłam szacun u studenta - finalisty WBW moją znajomością albumów atmosphere ;)
O rany wszystko juz pozgadywane. 17: Smashing Pumpkins Rocket
ReplyDeleteWidze tez Sufjana Stevensa i Jeffa Buckleya ale nie przypomne sobie tytułów.
I've decided to differentiate myself from the other wojtek.
ReplyDeleteThe "kurwa" referred to the fact that Bjork was the only thing I recognized, or rather - that I should've seen that coming
Also, I suspect all of those supposed "other languages" are actually regional permutations of FRENCH
AAAAA - I missed a Smashing Pumpkins track!? Damnit! Kurwa!
ReplyDeleteSo embarrassing.
Slovakian, Czech, Polish... it's all Greek to me :-)
paul, that was ..endearing
ReplyDeletesidenote: [21] aspiring sociopath. take that, byotch!
12. Jeff Buckley - Corpus Christi Carol
ReplyDeleteI like this game.
missorange - yup. Well, there are still a few missing, although I think I will proclaim the end today.
ReplyDeletePaul - yeah, I was surprised, especially since I'm pretty sure I remember you playing that one on the guitar.
Stadsdichter - well, we aim to please.
All right, the ones I guessed before:
ReplyDelete9. Gedo Monogatari (although iTunes says Gedo Senki - did you know it Bohdan?), song title - checked on our external drive: Teru no Uta
10. Noir Desir, L'enfant Roi - I didn't know the title, I had to check it, but I did know the album title: Des visages des figures. All right, I checked the spelling :)
11. Madredeus, don't have a clue which one is that, they produced a zylion songs, all in Portuguese :)
24. some song by buck 65. i've had it one my computer and i actually googled the lyrics to see if i could find a title for it and this blog popped up. sorry i'm a year late.
